When buying belts for mowers there are a couple things to know, anytime you have a idler pulley that rides on the flat side of the belt (back side) you need the reinforced belt mtd oem. and if your idler pulley is a v shape (rides of front side) you can probably get by with a no name brand. over all I choose oem brand belts because they last a lot longer, if you find that your chewing up belts either oem or not (using the above rules) there is something out of alignment or bad deck bearing, hope this helps answer some questions.
