Item works perfectly but it is not well designed. It is a bit thinner than it should be and there's a gap between the chassis and the adapter,. This introduces a bit of a trouble when installing because the connector is not well aligned. Using maybe a carton or something like that to fill the space, will give excellent results.

Tried to insert it to two different notebooks (ASUS X55 and a Lenovo Thinkpad). In the Lenovo it took over 30 minutes to insert because the SATA connectors are ~3mm dispositioned sideways therefore it was very hard to fit. In the ASUS X55 we couldn't fit at all, it is simply not compatible (which is strange because these optibays and the optical drives are standard size/arrangement!). So I do not recommend it, unless you'd like to suffer 1 hour+ to even fit it in the notebook...

if your laptop uses the slimline 9.5mm type of optical drive, this is the adapter you need to install a second hdd or ssd in it! however, be aware that if you have a laptop that uses the standard 12.7mm type, this adapter will not fit properly, and the connector will not line up at all. make sure you're getting the right size for your system, which you easily can do by removing your current optical drive and measuring its thickness. as for the adapter itself, it's very nice quality and even comes with a little screwdriver for a truly "no extra tools required" installation!

OEM optical drive brackets don't fit easily. Caddy doesn't retain inside the bay unless reinforced with adhesive or other modding. Cover from oem drive doesn't fit. Need to leave as is or custom make a new one.
