After performing the swap, the ram is now running 64-71C, well down from the up to 100C reached prior to replacement. Still not as cool as the 52-65C shown in my other HP-Z600s, but a large and welcome improvement. Some ram has a max operating spec of 95C, and that additional heat can't be good for error rate or lifetime.
