I believe it is one of the better laptops ever built, and still up to just about everything one would want to do with the most modern software. There are two issues of which you should be aware: 1) It tends to run hot. If you set the bottom against bare skin after it's been running a while, you may be well, badly surprised! 2) The aluminum shell is thin, and easily dented. Easily scratched too, so it will not look like new for long, unless you leave it on your desktop and never risk bumping into things in the real world the way a laptop does. On the plus side, this model will hold its resale value well. It is almost identical to the A1226, A1211 and A1260 models except a few small details such as screen brightness (and matte vs glossy), yet tends to cost quite a bit less if purchased used. Have fun!Read full review
Bought mine used and its been a wonderful laptop, call it a desktop. Why? The big screen allows working with full size images, unlike the smaller screens. I also bought an iPad, but its a waste of money in my opinion because in order to type the screen becomes the keyboard and you can't see what you're working on. Get a real keyboard if you have work to do, tapping a screen is useless for serious applications. This laptop cruises the internet perfectly, works with large image files in PhotoShop, I also do DVD prep work, awesome! I also like the dual touch pad design better than the all in one. I make too many errors with the multi finger stuff. Hooked up a mouse, external HD and off to college. Plus its dual boot into Windows if you're into that.
This is the first Mac I have owned, as I was always been a PC user until about a year ago when I made the switch to Linux. I have to say, the build quality of this is far better than any PC I have ever used, and the operating system is a pleasant mix between Window's user friendly interface (though MAC's is easier, as well as smarter), and Linux's famed customization. As far as performance goes, this is a six YEAR old machine and it out runs my 6 MONTH old PC. Though Macs are expensive, and software is more commonly compatible with PC than with MAC, I will say this. PC's are for gamers and programmers, while MACs are for professional artists. NOTE: I gave the battery life 3 stars for my particular battery, as I have not yet had the chance to experience a new batteries abilities.
This is a great laptop for someone new to the world of Mac. It has limited use for newer applications but is able to surf the internet using FireFox web browser. Here's your chance to try a Mac with out the big price tag.

I've been using my MacBook for one day now, and I love it! It is my first Apple computer and to buy one "near-new" scared me at first, but it was great and I had no problems. MacBooks are such great laptops, and even one that is 5 years old runs as good as brand new. If you are looking at Apple computers, buy a MacBook Pro, and if you aren't looking to buy an Apple computer...I don't want to know you.
