This is an old server card, designed and validated for use with Windows Server, VMWare, and Red Hat. This nearly guarantees broad compatibility with whatever OS you are using, and I can confirm it works out of the box with Debian and FreeBSD (FreeNAS) as well. Iperf performance testing is right in line with my expectations. The card is passively cooled, but really needs some chassis air flow (server card). I have one of these in an actual server chassis with all that airflow, and it still hits 50C, the one in my desktop tower is upwards of 70C. IIRC that’s still in spec, but I don’t like running things near the top of their specified thermals.

Excellent value 10G NIC. My only worry is the longevity of support for them. I'm using them in CentOS 8 based machines and I had to install the kmod-be2net drivers from ELRepo as support was removed in RHEL 8. However with CentOS 7 and Fedora 32 they "just worked."
