I had a an E4xxx cpu in a machine that acts as a file server in the garage. Since it is on 24/7 and i upgraded my network to gigabit Ethernet, i decided to upgrade the cpu with a E54xx cpu. This particular model also has virtualization enabled, but that's not necessary for a file server. The temperature of the cpu/system and total energy usage went _down_ after installing this cpu. I sold the E4xxx cpu for roughly same amount i bought this one. So apart from the ebay/paypal costs, the upgrade was almost free. Great deal so far !
Bought a used E5400 CPU here on eBay. OC the CPU to 3.6GHz stable on a Gigabyte P35 Socket 775. I actually downclocked it a little bit to 3.4GHz because I don't play many games that need this power. Great purchase for under $40.
