I was looking for a MB that was versatile. I needed space for several video cards as I use 4 monitors for stock trading. This board fits the bill and I also like the idea that I can use 2 types of memory. My old board smoked so I wasn't interested in buying a bunch of upgrades. I will upgrade to DDR2 soon, but don't want to be forced to get new video cards, new CPU, and new Memory all at once. I was able to get back up with minimal outlay and room for expansion.
This is the 2nd ASRock Mobo we have purchased and though we're partial to Gigabyte Mobos, we are having good success using the ASRock Mobos. We've put them under stress along with overclocking the CPU's and are happy to say they both are performing very well. The added plus is the ease in which yuo can adjust the settings (Cmos). we're not yet sold on ASRocks but will try them again
this motherboard looked like it would be cool, and i was interested cuz it could do pentium d, and core 2 conroe cpu. But the via chipset is super limited/ asus uses via better, and the board only works like an 845g intel board, and it has no built-in graphics, but it can do sata, only like 865 intel chipset. overall, i don't trust the board, and would never recommend it, never to no one. it's cool in bios for overclocking, which i'm not interested in. Not a very good motherboard.
Item was listed as "New OEM" but came in an opened anti-static bag without original documentation and a burnt copy of the driver CD. Motherboard failed to power on. I bypassed the power sense pin and was able to get it to boot but it froze in the middle of installing Windows XP and is now completely dead. I cannot comment about the quality of the motherboard because it was obviously used and not functioning when I received it.
A someone said in another review, GREAT MOTHERBOARD HANDLES FROM CELERON TO DUAL CORE, QUAD CORE AND EXTREEME PROCESSORS AND HAS OPTION TO USE DDR OR DDR2 MEMORY MODULES, AGP 8X AND PCIe GRAPHICS CARD. I already had this board in one of my other PC's, and because of its versitility, I have problems installing it. Just hope ASROCK continues the same trend with later models.
