I'm a huge fan of this processor for business use and personal use. Pros: --4core/8thread performance --overclocks amazingly --cheap due to the number of servers that are being decommisioned from this era. --powerful as heck for use in a personal system but also amazing for custom router/nas/server applications. Cons: --45nm chip so it gets a bit toasty with and without overclock --1156 motherboards for home use that can overclock are expensive --Only able to use 1333mhz and 1600mhz DDR3 (max 4gb per slot) --Not higher factory overclock (not this processors fault but i needed one more con to match my list of 4 pros) If you know what you're doing and or have a 1156 motherboard, I would definitely recommend this processor over the i7-820. Because 1156 Xeon processors were meant for home server use, there isnt a dual socket board for it so most 1156 motherboards natively support them unlike the 771 xeons needing a modified 775 motherboard.Read full review

I bought this CPU to upgrade my 8 year old Intel Core i3-540, which I overclocked to 4.2GHz for a year. 2 cores was't cutting it for me anymore so I decided on this CPU as it is basically an i7 for cheaper. Overall, my game FPS nearly doubled in some games. It renders videos faster than before and the entire computer feels faster than it ever was. I'm overclocking this CPU to 3.4GHz to keep my temperature under control and this CPU hasn't crashed once in my month of owning it. Great CPU this.

Replaced the 4 thread version of the processor with this 8 thread processor. It's reliable, reasonably fast and economical to run. A good processor upgrade on the right motherboards. in use with a Lenovo E20 Workstation. Has worked reliably under heavy load since purchase several weeks ago.

Great option for a budget oriented gaming PC. Will keep up with an 9xx series GTX card fairly well and when equipped properly can handle modern 2018/2019 games easily. Great option to the price caveat of "i7". Same chip, lower price.
