Great package. Alredy in work fine on Z8PE-D12X. Thanks. Can help someone: There was an old BIOS on my motherboard, and it did not start with 2 processors. The only way to update was to install one processor into the first socket, install windows (because the asus dos update from official site somehow cannot see the bios : / ) update BIOS with the asus update, and only after that launch the computer with two processors.

Processor upgrades in this era machines are surprisingly easy, and remarkably effective. These processors made a marked improvement over my 2.66GHz processors. Given their age, the price/performance ratio is very good. Only downside: they do consume a fair amount of power, and produce a fair amount of heat, but my Mac Pro system was up to the task. It's still quiet!

The CPU works perfectly as an upgrade to my 2009 Mac Pro. The included thermal paste however is of poor quality, which was leading to overheating. All is fine after applying some Arctic MX-4. Price and delivery time was also good.

Works perfectly, very cool, and can be overclocked better comparing with my previous i7-920 CPU. However I'd advise to buy Xeon W3680 instead because of the unlocked multiplier (it's identical to i7-980X).
