I have used this phone with various Asterisk distributions over the last couple years - as well as one tied to a commercial service (translation - VERY expensive phone service). While setting these up can be a tad challenging (especially using provisioning files/server, once you have the "aha moment" and understand how the XML files actually work, you'll probably hate it (caveat - I have nearly 20 of these phones, so provisioning files/server does make sense for managing this many). On the other hand, if you only have one or two the built-in Web configuration is super easy in intuitive. These make fantastic "home phones" with office like functionality. Im using them everywhere - and its a fantastic intercom system as well as a "poor mans" basic console for some automation apps I use (using the built-in web browser). While the newer VVX601 is faster and actively developed/supported, these are an excellent value and still have a lot of mileage in them, especially at the price point you can find them at nowadays.Read full review
