I needed to get a new 802.11n wireless adapter for my home network. Since I have used Cisco products in the past and have had very good luck with them, I decided to buy this particular USB Wireless adapter. As far as performance is concerned, it connects flawlessly to the network and I never have any dropped packets, signal drops, etc. However, there IS a caveat that I experienced wit Windows 7 (and I assume that it will appear with other versions of windows). For some reason, I guess that Cisco decided to save money by including the installation and drivers on the device itself by creating a partition which is used as a USB jump drive, rather than sending the product with a mini CD. After I installed it, I noticed that every time that I had a windows update or restarted the computer, I was not connecting to the wireless network. Well, it's NOT in the instructions, and it's very well hidden on their website. What you have to do is to browse to this device, which in Windows explorer will show up as a USB storage device. You need to copy the files over to a folder for safe keeping in case you need to reinstall the software or drivers. Then, you need to right-click on the USB drive, and format it. You can choose FAT32 or NTFS (it doesn't make any difference). The last step is to go into the Device Manager and under drives, you will see "Cisco AM USB device" listed in the list of drives. Right click on it, and disable it. After that, subsequent restarts of Windows will no longer see it as a storage device, but rather as a USB wireless adapter. I've never encountered such a problem that required me to research layers of webpages on a support site, so that is why I dropped the rating by 1 star. Otherwise, I would have given it a 5 star rating.Read full review
Plug it it, the OS recognizes it as a thumb drive, with an installer (drivers) Install the device, the next step is it becomes a WiFi client I have 3 of these devices. They are excellent devices. Get them for about $20 if you can.

Needed to either rewire my house due to moving my computer to another area of my house or invest in a reliable USB wireless Wi-Fi adapter. Glad I decided to go with a brand you can trust "Cisco". Easy set up and works great. No brainer on this purchase.
