I can't wait until these come down in price . I cannot tell you how happy I am owning this for my main drive on my laptop. Yes I have lost a couple hundred GB in storage so I use external hard drives for data but the speed in which my 4 year old laptop runs now is incredible. No moving parts is the answer. Spinning hard drives have served us well for decades but now it is time to shelve them in favor of all SSD drives. This one has been running flawlessly for weeks now. no detectable heat, no noise, lighter weight. The only drawback is the price. New this is over 400.00 but that will come down in time. I am looking for one to use in my desktop which is 6 years old. It will be like a new computer. I highly recommend this Intel SSD. With 160 gb just install operating system and programs. your large amounts of data I use the original hard drive in a very small exterior HD case. I also use mini SD cards with the standard adapter. It is kind of like a 16 or 32 gb CD to carry music or video. I do install a small amount of audio video but I keep my library which is now about 5 TB on a Promise DAS with 4-2 tb drives using raid 5. that should protect my precious data from hd crash. unfortunately it would be too expensive to back that up or upload it to some cloud. But technology changes daily. This is top of the line today but I can't wait to see what Intel comes out with next year and so on. I gave this a 4 star rating . The only reason it is not 5 or perfect is the cost which leads to its small size. Funny, I call 160 gb small. My first computer had 2 floppy drives. Then I bought a new 286 which had a 10 mb hard drive. The salesman said It would take a long time to fill up 10 megabits! Hmm? I have already filled up my first NAS which was 2.7 usable TERABITES! Hey what comes after terabits? Enjoy.Read full review
These SSDs will never stop working... will they? So far so good! I'm using mine with an old X58 system that only supports SATA II so this is pretty much as good as it gets. This one replaced an old OCZ drive that failed - nothing beats old Intel SSDs!

Shock, vibration, and gyroscopic forces are devastating to standard computer magnetic hard drives and using them in a car decreases their operating life considerably. I needed to build a tiny netbook computer to handle in car duties interfacing with my engine's electronic control module as well as an mp3 jukebox and the solid state drive was called for. The Intel X25-M SSD has features such as wear leveling and trim functions that allow Windows 7 operating systems to automate drive housekeeping as well as a software "tool box" that allows drive optimization and housekeeping to be performed manually under Windows XP. This solid state drive really lit a fire under the netbook, it operates very noticeably faster. From boot time to file transfers, this drive is incredibly fast as a primary hard drive. Price versus storage, this is expensive, but the extraordinary conditions presented by operation in a car's environment and the drive's 1,200,000 hour mean time failure rate made it comparably and competitively priced.Read full review
These are great drives but fairly over priced if I hadn't gotten 2 on blk Friday I never would have bought anymore theres just too many options now for lesser of a price or more space for a few dollars more but in order to complete my raid set up I need to continue to buy the same drive so consequently i have little chose unless I wanted to start all over again and that wouldn't be a sound investment at all so here I am building a 600 raid outta Intel drives doh!
I put this SSD drive in my ASUS X200CA Notebook, after the original hard drive died after several years of use. What an impressive upgrade! I should have done this a long time ago; it runs incredibly fast now, on top of running so much cooler than the original hard drive. Very happy that my little notebook runs so well now, as it's now my "go everywhere with me" tool, and doesn't weigh a ton like my big ASUS laptop. Having the SSD drive in it has given it an incredible boost in power and speed, and I'm really happy with the increase in function. I've been a big fan of SSD drives, ever since I put one in my big ASUS laptop; I should have done this a long time ago in my little ASUS.
