It uses two 2.5\" SATA Hard Disk Drives (up to 1TB each HD 9.5mm height for a total capacity of up to 2TB) mounted in one black aluminum external enclosure case with Hot Swap Removable Trays (the disk drives are not included). Take a complete RAID solution with you wherever you go. You can use any SATA-I or SATA-II Hard Drives with speeds up to 7200 rpm. This device connects to most computers with either an eSATA or USB 2.0 port. Just install the Hard Drives into the removable Hot-Swap Trays, there are no cables required to connect the drives into the case. The Hot-Swap Trays have safety locks to keep them secure in the case and slide out when you want to replace the hard drive. When you use SATA-II drives data transfer rates are up to 3.0Gbps in eSATA mode. Data transfer rates are up to 480Mbps in USB 2.0 mode. The built-in RAID Hardware supports 7 switch selectable different RAID modes, including: RAID 0 (Strip), RAID 1 (Mirror), JBOD (Single), BIG (Span), SAFE33, SAFE50, and GUI. The device is made of black anodized aluminum which acts as a great heat sink and there is a 40mm fan to cool the hard drives. When you use this device in the RAID 1 Mirror mode, if one drive fails, the device will automatically switch operation to the other functional drive and after you replace the defective hard drive the data will be mirrored back onto the new drive. With the supplied One Touch Backup (OTB) software (for Windows 7, Vista, XP and 2000), you can also create automatic backups as you define by using the OTB software. This OTB software provides a hard disk clone mode too. Works with: Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP,2000 and 2003 Server. Also works with MAC OS X 10.4.8 and above.
