(READ FULLY BEFORE offerDING) This Western Digital MyBook Pro Duo enclosure is USB 3.0 & Thunderbolt capable with two empty bays that can operate in RAID. The right bay door was carefully removed (retaining spring for the right bay was bagged and will come with the product if you happen to reassemble it with a door) but the unit does power on, connect to the PC and Western Digital\'s software detects it. Unfortunately that was the most I could do with it as I do not have any Western Digital branded hard drives to test the unit further. When you put a hard drive into the damaged bay, it\'ll seat inside comfortably and firmly so it works great in that sense but when you want to remove it the easiest way to do so is to open the left bay, remove the left bay\'s drive, then reach in to remove the right bay\'s drive.
Unit comes as pictured with an ac adapter and usb 3.0 connecting cable.NO HARD DRIVES are included with this sale. This bay is empty.
This could be good for you if you have extra Western Digital drives floating around (manufacturer recommends using Black-series drives with this) of the same sizes and you want them to run in a high powered external RAID environment - especially if you use Thunderbolt. I hear you can format non-WD drives to be used in an enclosure like this, but do NOT know the technique needed to do so.
