The Item

Introducting RokIt, a new 802.11g wireless USB adapter designed for use with Apple Macintosh computers running OS 10.3 and later (this IS LEOPARD compatible!). This also works with Windows and Linux. The RokIt is a new offering from Rokland Technologies. It is a wireless USB adapter that is compatible with both 802.11b and 802.11g wireless standards, at top speeds of 54 mbps when used with 802.11g. Another great feature of this device is that it works with any Mac that has a USB port (and OS 10.3 or later), you do NOT need to have an Airport card slot in order to use this. Some iMac and eMac computers have the USB ports indented on the side which means an adapter like this may not fit without a USB extension cable- so we INCLUDE one in the shipment for your convenience! This works with any brand 802.11g/b router such as Belkin, Netgear, and D-Link. It is compatible with Airport base stations but you do not need to have an Airport brand base station, you can use any brand. The necessary drivers for ALL of these operating systems noted above are included on CD so you don't have to go searching around on the Internet. Regarding OS compatibility, we should note that our technical staff can only provide techincal support for Windows and Mac operating systems. We can provide very limited support for Linux use.

Get this widget! This device is based on a new chipset from Atheros and gets a good range. This is not the same Atheros chipset used in Orinoco adapters just for clarification. The device is also designed with a USB connector tip that moves from the casing just a bit on contact, it is made this way to prevent stress on the connector part (if you have ever had the USB connector on a USB dongle break off before, you'll appreciate this feature).

Attention Mac users: At Rokland, we do not just rely on manufacturer specs to advertise compatibility, we have actually tested this model adapter on 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5 to ensure that it is compatible and fully functional. The unit that will be sent to you is new and has not been used, but we have tested this model adapter on Macintosh computers and can verify it is 100% compatible. The adapter comes with 2 CDs. One CD is the original manufacturers CD which has the Windows drivers, but it is a mini CD so it does not fit in Macs that have slot-loading CD drivers. For your convenience, the second included is a normal sized CD-R disc that we created which contains the Macintosh setup files as well as an instructional for installation. You can use this CD-R in a slot loading CD drive. Basically to install on any G3, G4, or G5 Mac all you need to do is go to the folder on the disc for your version of Mac OS (this is compatible with OS 10.3,10.4, and 10.5) and run the installation program. Then reboot as per the instructions and when the computer boots back up, open the installation document, connect the device to your Mac, and then follow the steps to initialize the device on your computer inside the System Preferences menu. This works on any G3, G4, or G5 with OSX versions 10.3,10.4, and 10.5 only. We have confirmed it is NOT compatible with 10.2.x or earlier systems. This does work with Windows as well (Windows 98SE and later)

While the manufacturer advertises the range on this device to be a maximum of 900 feet in open free space, indoors and in most places like cafes or airports we beleive the average user will experience more like 50-200 feet of range. This is an 802.11g device which means it is better than the older Airport wireless adapters which were 802.11b because this can connect to signals at speeds up to 54 mbps, which is almost 5 times faster than 802.11b speeds of 11 mbps. Note however as the distance between the adapter and your access point increases, the connection speed will decrease, as will happen with any wireless device.

This item is brand new. It is an OEM product meaning the adapters arrived to us in bulk factory boxes so there is no individual retail packaging. You will receive the adapter just like it is pictured with no retail packaging. A CD with all the drivers will also be included, and there is also a USB extension cable that will be included.

Shipping Options

Orders will generally be shipped the same or next day after payment is received. Periodically if we are experiencing unusually high order volume, your order may not be shipped until the second business day after payment is received, but this is not usual. We offer both UPS and US Postal methods of shipping as described below.

US 50 States + Puerto Rico: $3.00 US Postal First Class Mail. This includes delivery confirmation and insurance. First Class mail can take from 3-7 days to arrive, and sometimes longer.

US 50 States + Puerto Rico: $6.50 US Postal Priority Mail. This includes delivery confirmation and insurance. According to the US Postal Service, Priority Mail takes an average of 2-3 delivery days to arrive. This is not a guaranteed transit time though, it is just an average delivery time.

US 48 States: $8.50 UPS Ground Service. This includes insurance and tracking. This rate is only for bidders in the Continental US. We do ship to Alaska/Hawaii and APO/FPO but it must go via the US Postal Service so please take a look at a US Postal option. If you need the item shipped via an expedited method like 2nd Day Air, please inquire with your zip code for rates before bidding. UPS Ground can take from 1-7 days or longer depending on your proximity to our shipping location which is in Florida. UPS can take longer than US Postal Service Priority Mail, but UPS tracking tends to be updated more often than Postal Service tracking, and UPS tracking typically posts an estimated delivery date online within 12 hours after shipping, where as US Postal Serivce tracking does not.

International Shipping Rates and Information: International bidders must inquire for shipping costs before bidding. This is for your benefit because sometimes the cost can be very expensive. With most all of our items we have more than one available, so do not worry about the product selling out before we respond- please email us for a rate quote. International bidders must also accept all International shipping terms posted at the end of this auction description.

Payment Details

United States bidders: Payment can be made via PayPal or money order. We can also take credit card orders directly (details for direct credit card payment will be emailed to buyer at the time the sale is processed by our staff). New Jersey bidders please add 6% sales tax to the final auction price. Payment must be made in full before we ship.

Accepted International Payment Methods: For international payment, we accept PayPal or international money order. Due to restrictions of our merchant processor, we are not able to take credit cards that do not have a USA billing and shipping address. If paying with money order, please contact us with the name of the money order issuer you plan to use before mailing the money order so we may confirm that our bank will accept it.

GENERAL NONPAYMENT POLICY- Remember that your purchase is a contract to pay for the item. Please don't click the "Buy Now" button unless you will pay for the item. Payment is due within seven days from the end of auction. If you have a problem completing the auction, please communicate with us. Please make sure this is the item you want before buying as once an auction is won or purchased unfortunately because of nonrefundable eBay listing and feature fees we are unable to accomodate cancellations (exception- if you buy the wrong type of adapter for your computer, such as a laptop card when you meant to buy a desktop card, we can switch your order to the correct type).

The Guarantee/Auction Terms

The following is our return policy. We are not able to make exceptions to this policy so please read carefully before making a purchase. While we would grately appreciate your business, if you are not in full acceptance and agreement with these terms unfortunately at this time you are not eligible to bid or select "buy it now" on the auction. Bidding or selecting "buy it now" on this or any of our auctions constitutes full acceptance and agreement with all of our auction terms including our return policy.

At Rokland, our products are guaranteed to work for 30 days. Additionally, we want customers to be able to return products that they don't want, don't like, or did not mean to buy. That said, we do incur costs for each return, such as the nonrefundable eBay listing and feature fees. If an item returned was new, we must resell it for much less money as a used open box item. Therefore, we charge a minimal 10% restocking fee on all returned items (new and used), except for products that test defective upon receipt back here. We believe this is a fair policy as most eBay sellers do not allow for any non-defective items to be returned at all, and the ones that do typically charge a 20% restocking fee. Again, this 10% restocking fee will be applied to all returns except where a product is reported to us as defective and tests defective upon receipt back here (if the product you return is defective we can send a replacement at our expense or issue a refund of the item price, whichever you prefer). A restocking fee WILL be charged even in the event a product does not work on your PC due to incompatibility or a conflict with another piece of hardware on your system, so long as the product is not defective. We can work with you to troubleshoot the problem if you have any difficulty getting it to work. We will not charge a restocking fee if you wish to exchange a non-defective product for something else, however a new shipping charge will apply for the new shipment.

While we would certainly appreciate your business, if you feel that a restocking fee would not be acceptable in the event you want to return a non-defective product to us, please do not make the purchase. If you do wish to return a product, please contact us for an RMA number and return address instructions. In addition to the restocking fee (which will be deducted from your refund), shipping and return shipping expenses are not refundable under any circumstance unless we ship you the incorrect product. In the event we send the wrong item, we will send the correct one to you at our expense and also reimburse you for your return shipping of the incorrect product.

There are no other warranties on this auction, expressed or implied. The exception to this is if the description states there is a manufacturer's warranty. In this event the item should be returned to the manufacturer in accordance with that warranty if necessary.

INTERNATIONAL BUYER & SHIPPING TERMS

As noted in our shipping section, we do ship many items outside of the USA. However we do not ship all items outside of the USA, and are not able to ship to ALL countries. If you are not located in the USA, please email us to find out if we ship to your country and also to find out what the available shipping methods and costs are. Then please continue reading this agreement as these terms must be accepted in order for you to place a bid or select "buy it now".

1. Customs duty and tax: Many countries will charge the recipient import tax on items purchased on eBay. We do not have knowledge of which countries charge tax and how much it could be. Customers are advised to contact their local postal or tax offices prior to bidding. Rokand is not responsible and will not reimburse international buyers for taxes charged on delivery. Rokand cannot mark items as gifts, lower the value of the goods on the customs form, or engage in any other modification to assist in the lowering or elimination of valid taxes.
2. Insurance and proof of shipment: Items sent outside the USA are insured. US Postal Regulations state insurance covers only the cost of the product, and does not cover the shipping charge. When you inquire for shipping rate quotes, we will advise you of the average time frame for delivery. If your product has not arrived within 21 mailing days of shipping, please contact us so we can trace the package for you. All parcels are sent with tracking and tracking information is provided to the customer at the time of shipment. If your package is lost in transit, we will file an insurance claim on your behalf. The US Postal Service requires that all insurance claim filings include a signed letter from you, the recipient, stating you have not received the parcel shipped to your address. This is a requirement and the letter can be faxed to us, scanned and emailed, or sent through Postal mail. We cannot issue any refunds for lost packages or ship any replacements without this letter. If you select a replacement, we will pay to ship it to you. If you select a refund, you will be refunded only the price of the product, as noted above US Postal Regulations do not allow us to insure the cost of the postage.
2. Returns: Buyers outside the USA may return products in accordance with our above advertised return policy. It is important to note that shipping and return shipping are NEVER refundable, with the sole exception of a case where we ship the wrong product (example: you buy a wireless adapter and we send a keyboard by mistake).
