VoIP - Voice over Internet Protocol - is a service that takes analogue audio signals, like the kind you hear when you talk on the phone, and turns them into digital data that can be transmitted over the Internet.

What this really means is that you can use your broadband connection to make free or cheap phone calls.

The Thomson Speedtouch 716 is unlocked and can be used with any VoIP provider's service, but Digidave recommends the great VoIP service from www.freespeech.co.uk



You can connect your normal phoneline through the router allowing you to make and receive phone calls as normal. This router also gives you another phoneline to make and receive calls over your broadband connection.



Wireless connectivity is built-in, with lightning fast 802.11g wireless networking - connect your wireless laptop, Nintendo Wii, Sony PSP, Playstation 3, or any other wirelessly-enabled device to your broadband connection.



For ultimate flexibility, the Thomson Speedtouch 716 also has 4 Ethernet ports and 1 USB port, for connecting up to 5 computers, gaming consoles or other devices to your broadband connection.
