This is one of my SUN SPARCstation collection. I used to work with a bunch of SUN Sparcstations back in the dotcom period. I have had these systems for years and kept them in my server room and my office.
The sale is for SUN Microsystems SPARCstation LX. It is also called \"Lunch Box\" with a proper pair of external SCSI SUN 411 CDROM drive with an external SCSI cable.
This is the fastest SPARCstation Lunchbox configuration.
I refurbished and enhanced this machine for more stability.
First, I replaced the unreliable mechanical SCSI HD to SCSI2SD with 4GB usable space. It however includes 8GB so you can configure up to 4 disks. With this multiple disk configuration, you can install multiple OS such as NetBSD, OpenBSD and of course Solaris in one system. You just need to boot with a disk(n) with specific os loaded.Currently, the SCSI2SD is configured with 2 HD and Solaris 8 loaded. This thing runs pretty quietly without humming SCSI Hard disk noise.
I replaced the NVRAM with a new one.
I also maxed out the memory to 128MB by adding two 32MB in first bank. The official maximum configuration uses 16MB modules, but the first bank can also hold 32MB modules giving a maximum of 128Mb memory.
