Ruckus Zone Flex R500 Wireless Access Point--cracked case but fully functional :
$75.00

This is a Ruckus Zone Flex R500 wireless access point. I have been managing the networks at several multi-unit properties and one of them uses Ruckus access points exclusively, in concert with a Zone Director on the network to configure, provision, and manage the APs dynamically as they are added or removed. This R500 offered here for sale is an AP that has a cracked bottom case as a result of some previous tech using force instead of proper technique to remove it from a wall. The device still works normally but because of the cosmetic damage--which is not visible when the device is mounted or on a table top--it was shelved and forgotten about, and eventually sold as surplus. I purchased it along with many others. I powered up this AP to test it prior to listing for sale. As expected, it came up and began broadcasting its generic SSID--unconfigured or unprovisioned Ruckus APs broadcast the network name \"Island,\" followed by the last six digits of its primary MAC address--on multiple channels or frequencies, until it locates a director, is provisioned, and determines the best WiFi channel to broadcast on. Both the MAC address label and the generic SSID broadcast by this used access point are clearly visible in the pictures and show that the AP is functioning properly, and searching available networks for a Zone Director to connect to. As I do not have access to a Zone Director server or appliance I was not able to test the new AP\'s integration into an existing network. But it should do so without any problems.
Because some of the clowns in offices near mine have named their wireless networks with offensive or improper language, I have deliberately blurred out some of them in the WiFi scan I include in the photographs.
Pricing: I usually have a great deal of POS and IT equipment I\'m trying to move, and I will always favor the fast sale for a reduced price over holding out for every last dime on an item. Accordingly I always price competitively to what I can find out on the market. On , used Ruckus R500s start at around $170 with shipping and go up from there. New ones start around $300 and go up to somewhere near a thousand dollars from some buyers. Prices on the Web tend to run about the same for both new and used. The price I\'m asking for this AP is nothing short of a steal. I would not hesitate if you want it. The last few APs I posted sold within minutes of my posting them for sale. These Ruckus APs are extremely popular. They are far more effective in their role than the consumer-level junk you find on the shelf at the big-box stores.
