Alright here it goes.
I purchased this machine a couple of weeks ago here on ebay. I purchased it as an as-is machine with a couple of issues. When I received the machine the bottom case which was black instead of the standard aluminium, was swollen and I could tell that the battery inside had caused the swelling. I went ahead and purchased a new battery and upon receipt of the new battery I attempted to install it (this was Monday 11/16). When I took the case off and tried to install the battery, it wouldn't fit and the connections were different.
At this point I wasn't sure what I had, but was truthfully a bit put off because I was truthfully looking for a machine to use, and at this point this machine was rather useless to me, so I went to MacRumors and posted a question asking if anyone knew exactly what I had.
Well, to make a long story short, this things has taken on a life of it's own and landed on a lot of Apple and technology related websites.
This morning I went to my nearest Apple Store and spoke with the assistant manager. I asked if Apple would want the machine back, as I now understood that it was a prototype and didn't want to cause or get into any trouble by selling it. His initial reaction was that I would be able to do whatever I wanted with it, but I wanted further confirmation. He attempted to call corporate, but was only able to leave messages, we exchanged contact information and he promised to be in touch. Roughly a half an hour later he did call me back and informed me that Apple was not interested in having the machine returned to them and that I could do with it whatever I wanted. He also stated that there would be no support offered for this machine as it is not officially considered an Apple product.
I have decided to sell the machine to someone who will value it as a collectible.
I will describe the machine to the best of my abilities but bid on this with the knowledge that Apple will not support this laptop
The machine has clearly been used with scuff marks on the outer case.
The battery, as described earlier, is pretty much shot, it holds a charge but does not fit in the case.
Because of the battery the bottom case was, at one point distorted, it now is pretty much back to shape but may be warped slightly.
When the battery disformed it caused some of the mounting points for the bottom case to pop loose and so some of the screws cannot fit back in, also a few of the screws are missing (although it shouldn't be hard to get some of those). I will include all the spare screws that I have along with the mounting points that popped loose (one was missing but I have two). All said, the bottom case does reattach fairly well.
The AC adapter that it comes with appears to be one that is intended for the MacBook
The ports on the side are a bit difficult to open, but the USB port does work (it's the only one I've tried).
The machine does boot up when plugged in and seems to function alright. At one point there was an issue where the airport wasn't recognized, but that last two times that I booted it, it seemed to work.

Pictures of the internals.
These are the extra screws and mounting points that should be welded to the top case for screws to go into. Most of these screws are used to hold the battery in, but since the batter isn't in, they are living in a ziploc bag.
Pictures of the machine turned on and some of the system profiler
The power adapter that it shipped with and which will be included.
The buyer will also get a copy of the Apple Store Assistant Manager's business card in case they ever have to contact Apple regarding the conversation I had with him today (I'm not posting the business card for rather obvious reasons).
I believe I have described this item as accurately as possible, and will attempt to answer any reasonable questions.
As far as the functionality of this item goes, it is purely listed AS-IS...that's how it was initially listed when I purchased it and I'd consider it even more that way now.
