This auction is for a Netgear HomePlug, Ethernet over powerline, system. It includes a XE104 adapter with 4-port switch (connect multiple devices in your home entertainment system, for example) and a XE103 adapter (connect to your router/switch). Netgear rates these at 85 Mbps maximum and I was able to achieve a fairly consistent throughput (40 Mbps according to Netgear's software, which I think was an inflated figure, but it worked fine with my Sonos music system and Apple TV) going down one story and without using a surge protector or Netgear's encryption. I am selling because I was able to get better throughput with my new 802.11n dual-band access point.

Powerline broadband adapters can work very well, adequately, poorly, or not at all, depending on the home's circuit layout, wiring quality/age and electrical noise. Please research before bidding to make sure this will work in your setup. I have included some review links below that I feel give a good overview of the capabilites of the Netgear system, as well as the successes/failures individual customers had with this system. If you are not sure if this will work in your house, I am willing to accept a return provided you pay shipping (insured) both ways and return in original new condition.
