Q: We’ve noticed that you’re recommending the brand new ELE-2015, which you rate as #2, over your #1 rated ELE-2020… why?

A: That’s true. For typical Message-On-Hold requirements the ELE-2015 has everything you need to provide superb audio quality and more than enough non-volatile memory to satisfy the vast majority of our clients who use customized MOH programs. The limitation of this unit is that there is only one track loaded at a time, which in most instances is not a problem. The ability to accept new MOH programs (over the internet) as MP3 or WMA files and then to easily upload them onto the ELE-2015 makes adding a new production, say a Holiday program, relatively quick and easy. The cost savings allows you to invest that money into a superior customized production, which will yield far greater benefits than the type of machine you have sitting in the equipment closet. That being said, the ELE-2020 is far from obsolete and has its place for clients wishing to have many tracks (up to 99) simultaneously loaded for frequent changes. It also has a virtually unlimited amount of capacity for those clients wishing to use it to feed their paging systems with many hours of programming. Another example would be if you were not going to have a customized program but wanted a great variety of “generic medleys”instead since we have many dozens of I.O.S. licensed medleys to select from... then the ELE-2020 would be the superior choice due to its medley variations and instant track selection. There's no longer any good reason to buy an outdated MOH tape machine with VOLATILE memory and limited capacity in order to save a few dollars. The ELE-2015 and ELE-2020 units are so capable and so economical that they arethe best choices for anyone who has taken the time to truly understand this technology.

Q: How do you determine your ranking for MOH playback devices?

A: We look at all models and then compare playback quality, expandability and extra features with cost performance. We seldom place "copy cat" products that arrive late and cost more into our top 3 spots because they rarely add significant value to the established products that were introduced by market leaders such as Eletech Electronics, IntelliTouch and Nel-Tech Labs. We then determine if the extra features warrant the added cost. If not, then a newer unit that is significantly more expensive will receive a lower ranking.
