Mac Pro 5,1 (Mid 2010, A1289). SSD, upgraded CPU, Metal GPU. Condition is "Used".
For sale is my quarantine project. Bought this 5,1 Mac and upgraded various components last year, but decided I don't need a desktop going forward so here it is for sale. I'll list all the important components below. Please note that these are on the older side now, so if you're not familiar with them or a bit of troubleshooting, I suggest you look at a newer model.Computer operates normally, see pictures for power up screenshots. The case is in great condition, a lot of these are beat up at their age, but this one is pretty much scratch free and entirely dent free. I will obviously restore the computer to factory settings before shipping, ignore the "used" storage space in the screenshots.
  • SSD: I added a PCIe to m.2 adapter which allowed me to install an m.2 Crucial P1 500GB SSD (2280). This is set up as the boot drive for the computer, allowing for faster performance.
  • HDD: 1TB Western Digital HD.
  • GPU: When I got it the Mac came with a Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT. I upgraded this to a Nvidia GT 630 2GB from MacVidCards. This new card is 4k capable (and features dual DisplayPort connections for dual monitors). It also has Metal support, allowing the upgrade to MacOS 10.14 Mojave. I will include the old 8800 GT and it's auxiliary power cord.
  • CPU: I upgraded the original 4 core Xeon to a 3.33GHz6 core W3680.
  • RAM: 16GB of DDR3 Crucial RAM.
  • Bluetooth dongle: I will include an Asus BT400 USB Bluetooth dongle (pictured in the back of the computer) that allows use of newer bluetooth features like Handoff.
  • SD card reader: these computers didn't come with a built in SD card reader, so included is an Anker USB SD card reader.
Reference this site for all the information you could want about the 5,1 Mac Please ignore my lack of and response Points, I finally created my own account after using my parents' for years. I have plenty of experience using and 100% positive satisfaction on their account.
