MSI GS70 Stealth (GS70 20D) i7-4700HQ@2.4GHz, 250GB,500GB SSD, 1TB HD, 16GB RAM:
$911.89

This is a mSi GS70 Stealth (GS70-20D) with Intel i7-4700HQ @2.40GHz, Crucial 250GB SSD, Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD, Seagate 1TB 7,200 RPM HD, 16GB RAM, build in WiFi and Bluetooth in good condition. It's some scratches and dent around the laptop by normal used but everything had been test and it's 100% working. It's a lot of software installed on it. It's good for student, teacher, graphic designs, video production etc.The MSI GS70 Stealth (GS70 2OD) ($1,999.99 USD as tested) is the latest in the small but growing niche of ultraportable gaming machines—laptopsthat pack gaming capability into slim, light designs with efficient mobile components and vastly better battery life than the average gaming rig. The GS70 Stealthis impressive in that regard, offering real gaming on the go, but compared with other portable systems, it's a pretty close race.
Design
You'd be forgiven for thinking that the GS70 Stealth was a business laptop of some sort. The slim design has a brushed aluminum lid and chassis, with a dark finish that is a bit different from the normal jet-black or bright colors seen on most gaming notebooks. The GS70 Stealth is just that, stealthy, because the conservative-looking design conceals a surprisingly sophisticated gaming-focused design. On the underside is a patch of suede-like material, a trick borrowed from high-end arcade-style controllers—the suede texture provides traction when used on a lap. Despite this small touch (and others) the all-aluminum chassis is the same one offered on theiBuypower Battalion Ultra-Thin M1771.

Weighing 5.8 pounds, the GS70 Stealth is the lightest 17-inch gaming notebook we've reviewed, as well as the slimmest. Measuring just 0.85 by 16.5 by 11.3 inches (HWD), it's slimmer and lighter than even the iBuypower Battalion Ultra-Thin M1771 (5.93 pounds) or the clear progenitor of all ultraportable gaming systems, theRazer Blade (2012), which weighs 6.6 pounds and measures a fraction of an inch thicker (0.88 inch). Bear in mind that all of these systems are dramatically thinner than any standard 17-inch gaming laptop, like the Editors' ChoiceOrigin EON17-SLX (2014)$2,177.00 at Origin PC, which measures 2.15 inches thick and weighs a hefty 9.3 pounds.

The keyboard is no mere collection of chiclet keys. It's a SteelSeries original, with multiple multicolored lighting zones, which can all be customized to your desired color scheme. It also features anti-ghosting, which allows you to press dozens of keys simultaneously without the keyboard locking up or slowing input to a crawl.

The 17.3-inch display offers 1,920-by-1,080 resolution, and looks great, thanks to an anti-glare matte finish on the screen, which prevents any of the mirror-like reflections seen on glass-covered displays. It won't offer the deep, deep blacks that a glass-fronted display will, but I had no real complaints during use, even when playing extremely dark games, likeBatman: Arkham Origins$14.99 at Amazon. Joining the high-quality display is a superb sound system, with two stereo speakers built into the hinge that offer crisp, clear sound, and even some rumble, thanks to an integrated subwoofer on the underside of the laptop. The sound is further enhanced with SoundBlaster Cinema software.

Features
For such a slim chassis, the GS70 Stealth has a lot of features baked in. There are four USB 3.0 ports (including one with charging capability), headphone, mic and S/PDIF jacks. HDMI output and two mini-DisplayPort connections allow you to connect up to three independent external monitors. A Kensington lock slot means that you can secure the laptop to prevent someone from walking off with it when you're not looking. You also have Gigabit Ethernet, thanks to a Killer DoubleShot networking adapter, which offers both Gigabit LAN and dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi. Bluetooth 4.0 + HS is available for wireless connection to headsets, speakers, and peripherals.

The GS70 Stealth is equipped with three different storage drives—two 128GB solid-state drives (SSD) in RAID 0 acting as a single boot drive, and a 1TB, 7,200rpm hard drive for game installs and media storage. The system comes with Windows 8, along with several preinstalled apps that most gamers will want to remove right off the bat, like WildTangent Games, CookBook, and Music Maker Jam. Others you might keep are a 30-day trial version of Norton Internet Security, Skype, and Evernote. Regardless of what you do with the software, MSI covers the laptop with a two-year warranty.

Performance
The GS70 Stealth is configured to offer potent performance on the go. It has an Intel Core i7-4700HQ processor, a 2.4GHz quad-core CPU made for these sorts of ultraportable designs. The combination of the CPU and 16GB of RAM helped the GS70 Stealth score 6,348 points in PCMark 7, second only to the Editors' Choice Origin EON17-SLX (6,446 points).

The Cinebench scores tell a slightly different story, however, with the GS70 Stealth scoring 6.32 points, coming in behind all of the current comparison systems, including the iBuypower Battalion Ultra-Thin M1771 (6.74 points). In multimedia tasks, the system offered more than adequate performance for the user who wants to do some photo or video editing between gaming sessions, completing Handbrake in 36 seconds and Photoshop in 3 minutes 18 seconds.

On the graphics side, the GS70 Stealth is outfitted with both Intel HD Graphics 4600—an integrated solution that you'll use for less demanding graphics loads—and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M discrete GPU for gaming. With 2GB of dedicated memory, the Nvidia GPU offers plenty of horsepower. Its 3DMark 11 scores of 6,380 points (Entry) and 1,273 points (Extreme) means that the GS70 Stealth sits right alongside the iBuyPower M1771, which scored 6,399 points (Entry) and 1,285 points (Extreme). The results were also similar in gaming tests, with the GS70 Stealth cranking out 19 frames per second (fps) in Aliens vs. Predator and 21fps in Heaven, both at full HD and high detail settings. While this sort of performance can't match the high-powered hardware found in larger systems, like the Origin EON17-SLX (2014) or theAlienware 17$1,499.99 at Dell, it does mean that you'll be able to enjoy your games on the go, albeit at lower resolution and details.

As an ultraportable, one of the best features of the GS70 Stealth is its battery life. It lasted 3 hours 47 minutes on our standard battery rundown test. Compared with most gaming notebooks, this is phenomenal—the Alienware 17 lasted only 2:55, while the Origin EON17-SLX (2014) barely cleared an hour (1:13). Compared with the iBuyPower M1771 (4:00), it's a half step behind. Separate from the standard test, I also spent time playing games on battery power. When I played Batman Arkham Origins, the laptop lasted 2:37, an impressive amount of time for any gaming system.

Conclusion
The MSI GS70 Stealth (GS70 2OD) demonstrates just how far the ultraportable gaming scene has come along since the Razer Blade (2012) first brought an ultraportable design to gaming machines. The portability and battery life is impressive, but no more so than the competing iBuypower Battalion Ultra-Thin M1771. With the Editors' Choice Origin EON17-SLX secure in its top spot with powerful performance, and other ultraportable systems with similar specs and results, the MSI GS70 Stealth (GS70 2OD-002US) is highly recommended for gamers who want an ultraportable system. But if you're seeking real power, you'll want to look elsewhere.

  • CONS

    Generic design is fairly conservative.

  • BOTTOM LINE

The MSI GS70 Stealth (GS70 2OD) is a solid ultraportable gaming laptop, but even with good performance and battery life, it's a close race with the competition.
