January 2017 marked the 33rd Anniversary of the launch of this original Macintosh M0001 128K model. The original Mac was introduced with the famous Orwellian '1984' commercial during the Super Bowl on January 22, 1984, and was the very first reasonably affordable personal computer to use a mouse and a Graphical User Interface (GUI) with desktop icons.

This is a very early production original Macintosh, made week 6 of 1984 as decoded from the serial # label on the Mac that begins withF406 (F= Fremont, CA production plant, 4= 1984, 6= 6th week of year) indicating this Mac was produced during the second week of February 1984, only a couple weeks after the Mac was first introduced and launched! Original 'Macintosh' emblem on rear (very late 1984 productionM0001 Macs wore a revised 'Macintosh 128k' emblem starting during week 47 of production, all Macs made before then had this original "Macintosh" emblem). Steve Jobs and the original Macintosh team signatures are molded inside the rear case housing.

Rare non-upgraded Macintosh M0001 with original 128K RAM motherboard with early Mac Version A ROM set, and original 400K capacity Sony single-sided disk drive inside. Upgrades of 128K Macs to 512K RAM or higher motherboards and higher capacity disk drives were very common once upgrades became available, however upgrades were often not noted on the outer Mac case. Therefore, a Macintosh can still have the original case labels/emblems but that does not guarantee it still has the original components inside, unless it has been verified like this one. When a Mac was upgraded by Apple the original 128K board was removed and swapped out for a completely new 512K board, so the original motherboard was lost forever. Original Macs like this that still have the orginal non-modified 128K motherboard and 400K disk drive as it came from Apple in 1984 are much more collectible and valuable now than upgraded Macs.

Macintosh system unit- (Model M0001)- Nice original beige/cream color, not darkly yellowed, marked up or damaged like many that remain are now. N0 marker writing or engravings, no stickers or old sticker outlines, no cracks or missing parts, hard to find now in this nice clean cosmetic condition. Front face has some smooth rub mark areas above monitor on front bezel as seen in photos. Considering this is a 33+ year old used computer it is in amazing condition compared to most. NO corrosion to rear clock battery compartment unlike many that had an old battery left in for years that leaked out causing internal damage.NO ugly pry marks to any of the case seams as this one was never opened improperly with the wrong tools like many were, which greatly detracts from appearance and value. This Mac was never upgraded so likely never opened before now. Screen is bright, crisp, and stable with no burned-in image, or scratches on the glass. All four original rubber feet on bottom of case and clean. Inside of Mac case is exceptionally clean, no corrosion, no dirt or dust, properly stored.
Original Sony 400K Single-Sided Internal Disk Drive- Early,Made in late 1983 by Sony leading up to the Mac launch! Disk insert and eject mechanism cleaned and re-lubed so disks go in and out smoothly like new again. Drive read/write head cleaned and tested. Included disksload, run, and eject as expected. Original Macs are completely dependent on the floppy drive, as there is no hard drive, so having a properly serviced and tested floppy disk drive is essential for reliable use.
Original 1984 Apple Macintosh keyboard- (Model # M0110) with original curled flexible keyboard cable with undamaged prong connectors on each end, cable nice and tight not all stretched out like heavily used ones. Week 7 of 1984 production from the serial # staring with G407 (4= 1984, 07= week 7). Original keyboard that came with this Mac. All four original rubber feet still on bottom, clean excellent condition, not yellowed. All keys are clean and functional, no dust or dirt between keys, every key tested to register working on the Mac.Original 1984 Apple Macintosh one-button mouse- (Model # M0100) Original early version of this mouse with the square style connector, with screws to attach securely to the Mac. Week 6 of 1984 production from the serial # starting with G406 (4= 1984, 06= week 6). Original mouse that came with this Mac. Clean, tested, and working perfectly, not yellowed.
Mac mice and keyboards were made at a different production plant than Macs, then were later paired with a Mac for final packaging and shipment, so will always be from right around the same timeframe of production as the Mac if they are the originals that came with the Mac, not from a much earlier or much later week of production than the Mac. This is a matching original set as it came from Apple in early 1984.Original Picasso Mac Accessory Kit- Rare original Mac plastic Picasso Accessory Kit, has an even beige discoloration all over which is typical of the early 1984 plastics used on these kits, but not darkly yellowed like many are now. NO cracked or broken corners to the plastic lid cover, unlike many that remain have. Apple logos embossed into inside tray. Includes:
  • Rare early 1984 Steve Jobs unused Free MacWorld Magazine offer sheet! Clean and crisp unmarked. Earliest version printed early 1984, later revisions of this sheet had a part number printed on lower corner, this 1st one does not.
  • Early 1984 Guided Tour of Macintosh audio cassette in original case. This earliest version has a red label on the cassette, ones made later in 1984 have a white label.
  • SEALED set of 4 Apple rainbow logo stickers (2 large, 2 small) from EARLY 1984 with brown cardboard backing, later revisions did not have the brown cardboard, only sets from very early 1984.
  • Genuine Apple 1984 400K Macintosh System Disk, original Version A from early 1984
  • Original Apple logo power cord (not shown) and cardboard power cord sleeve

  • Original Programmer's Switch
  • Original 90 Day Warranty on Hardware card for the Macintosh
  • Rare Macintosh System Update sheet dated January 25, 1984! Came only with very early production Macs before the Owner's Guide was updated.
1984 Macintosh Owner's Guide- EARLY first version printed in 1983! 160 pages. Later much more common versions were printed in 1984, had more pages, and also had a suffix after the part number printed on the rear cover (A, B, C, etc.) this earliest version has none, and only came with very early 1984 production Macs like this one. No writing or markings inside manual. Very crisp and clean with all pages secure and undamaged. Nice clean cover with Picasso-style original Mac graphics, unmarked, minor spotting on front. Rare earliest 1st version printed 1983!
