Dell Poweredge 840 Computer Server. No Reserve:
$865

If your looking for a good deal on a server, you just found it. I bought this Power Edge at a local auction this past week thinking that it wasa regular tower PC. I know nothing about servers. My mistake. I have no use for it. I was hoping to replace the old Dell I am currently using at home. Whoops. My loss is your gain.

Here is what I have figured out. It has a Dual Core Xeon processor at 2.4mhz. 4 gigs of ram. 4x250gig removable hard drives. It has Cent OS 5 operating system. (red hat nash?)

It powers up just fine, I just can't get pass the password screen for the CENT OS 5 operating system. I don't know the password and have no way to find it.

The tower appears to be very cleanwith no scratches or marks on it. It was used in a very clean CAD lab at a very large CNC machining prototype shop. It was running when I went into the lab and appeared to still be running their network or something. Now it's sitting on my coffee table in my living room.

Although it appears to work just fine, the item is sold as is.

This auction is just for the tower. No keyboard or monitor included.

Shipping costs will be actual cost. I will package it wonderfully for it's travels. No international bidders unless your fromCanada and want to come pick it up.

Paypal or cash only. No checks. If needed I can take a credit card thru my work, but it's not something I really want to do.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. If you have any suggestions on info that I can add to help in the description let me know.

Thanks for looking.

I just went to Dell's website and tried to build this computer. I was wrong about the processor. It's a Quad Core Xeon processor and not the dual core. My mistake. Iimagine those of you who have already bid don't mind that mistake.(I will cancel your bid if you wish) It appears that the cheapest I can build this computer for is $3800. I had no idea.

After looking up the service tag I found that there appears to be some support time left. Some dating to 2011. If you are interested in this server I would suggest looking it up and seeing it for yourself. JJ5XJF1 is the service tag number.

If you enter the service tag it also lists the parts that where installed in this unit when it was purchased new. I don't know what the part numbers mean, so I cannot confirm that all the parts are there, but I would imagine that they are.

I was just warned that transferring the Dell support isn't very easy and might not be possible. So keep that in mind when bidding. Anyone who has bid and wants out due to this, please let me know.
