by Abacus SoftwareBASIC-64 is a great tool for the Commodore 64 programmer. It is simple to use, but also has sophisticated features for the more advanced programmer. The ease of use is what has made this tool the most popular compiler in my arsenal.
There are two versions of the COMPILER/OPTIMIZER:
1. COMPILER/OPTIMIZER I: Any program that works in regular interpreted BASIC on the 64 can be compiled by this option. This is a hands-off way to speed up your programs without any knowledge of what is happening inside the code.
2. COMPILER/OPTIMIZER II: This compiler option allows much more flexibility in the use for integers. Integer variables and math can drastically improve program performance. The BASIC interpreter does not allow integer counters in FOR...NEXT loops, only floating point ones. In this option, you can use integers as FOR...NEXT counters. This is a big deal. If you have an application that can be done using only integers, it will fly using option II.In either case, the compiler/optimizer writes the compiled program to disk. It can be run independently of the Basic-64 Master Disk, and so can be freely copied.Basic-64 is compatible with Simon\'s BASIC, allowing you to use all those great graphics capabilities. Any program compiled this way will need to have the Simon\'s BASIC cartridge in the C-64 in order to run.FULLY TESTED: This copy was fully tested on 18Jan18 by me. I compiled a short BASIC program using both I and II Compiler/Optimizers. You can be sure this will work on your own 64, or C-128 (in 64 mode)This package includes:
