Rare non-upgraded original Macintosh with original 128K RAM motherboard and original 400K capacity Sony single-sided disk drive inside. Upgrades of 128K Macs to 512K RAM or higher motherboards and higher capacity disk drives were very common once upgrades became available, however upgrades were often not noted on the outer Mac case, especially if not done by an authorized dealer. Therefore, a Macintosh can still have the original case labels/emblems but that does not guarantee it still has the original components inside, unless it has been verified. When a Mac was upgraded by Apple the original 128K board was removed and swapped out for a completely new 512K board, so the original motherboard was lost forever. Original Macs like this that still have the orginal non-modified 128K motherboard and 400K disk drive as it came from Apple in 1984 are much more collectible and valuable now than upgraded Macs that no longer have the original components.
January 2017 marked the 33rd Anniversary of the launch of this original Macintosh M0001 128K model. The original Mac was introduced with the famous Orwellian \"1984\" commercial during Super Bowl XVIII on January 22, 1984, and was the very first reasonably affordable personal computer to use a mouse and a Graphical User Interface (GUI) with desktop icons. Steve Jobs and the original Macintosh team signatures are molded inside the rear case housing of the Mac.
Macintosh system unit- (Model M0001)- Week 18 of 1984 production as decoded from the serial # starting with F418which decodes as: F= Fremont, CA plant, 4= 1984, 18= 18th week of year, which was the last week of April/first week of May just a little over 3 months since the Mac was first introduced in late January. Same serial # is on the label on the side of the retail box, as this is an original matching set.
Original128K RAM non-modified motherboard. Mac is not yellowed or discolored, no marker writing, no engravings, no cracks or scratches, no stickers or old sticker outlines on the casing like many have. All four original rubber feet on bottom and clean. NO corrosion to the rear battery compartment unlike many of these Macs that had an old battery left in for years that leaked out. NO ugly pry marks to any of the Mac case seams as this one was never opened improperly with the wrong tools like many were, which greatly detracts from appearance and value. Mac was never upgraded so likely never opened before now, never tampered with or altered, all original components inside. Screen is bright, crisp, and stable with no burn-in or scratches on the glass. Inside of the Mac is clean from always being stored in the box.
Original Sony 400K Single-Sided Internal Disk Drive- Disk insert and eject mechanism fully cleaned and re-lubed so disks go in and out smoothly. Drive head cleaned so disks read properly. Original Macs are totally dependent on the floppy drive as there was no hard drive for them, so a properly serviced and tested disk drive is essential for use especially given the age.
Original 1984 Apple Macintosh keyboard- (Model # M0110) w/original coiled keyboard cable. Week 16 of 1984 production as decoded from the serial # starting with G416 (4=1984, 16=week 16). Original keyboard that came with this Mac in the original Picasso cardboard sleeve and undamaged foam holders with embossed Apple logo. Sleeve edges good, bend to one rear edge. Cable is clean and tightly coiled. All keys are clean and functional, no dust or dirt between keys, fully detailed and every key tested working to register with the Mac.
Original 1984 Apple Macintosh one-button mouse- (Model # M0100) Original square style plug connector. Week 18 of 1984 production as decoded from the serial # starting with G418 (4=1984, 18=week 18). Original mouse that came with this Mac in the original Picasso cardboard sleeve and undamaged foam holders with embossed Apple logo. Sleeve edges nice and good, bend to one edge where. Mouse rolls smoothly and works perfectly with the Mac.
Original Mac mice and keyboards were made at a separate production plant from Macs, then were later paired with a Macintosh computer unit for final packaging and shipment, so will always be from right around the same timeframe of production as the Mac if they are the originals that came with the Mac, not from a much earlier and certainly not a much later week of production than the Mac as completed Macs weren\'t left sitting around waiting for a mouse and keyboard, they were shipped right out.
Original 1984 Macintosh Picasso Accessory Kit- Rare original Mac white plastic Picasso Accessory Kit box. Nice clean original white color, not all ugly yellowed and discolored like many are now, NO cracks to any of the corners which is a common problem on these plastic cases. Includes:
  • Original 164 pg. Macintosh Owner\'s Guide, No writing or markings inside, clean and nice. Nice white cover, minor shelf wear, all pages securely attached to spiral binding
  • Original genuine 1984 Apple Mac 400K floppy disks- Macintosh System disk, MacPaint disk, and A Guided Tour of Macintosh disk. All tested and working on this Mac
  • Original Apple logo angled-head power cord with original cardboard power cord sleeve
  • Rare unused 1984 Steve Jobs free Macworld Magazine offer sheet!
  • Macintosh Power Cord cardboard sleeve and original angle head Apple Mac power cord.
  • Macintosh Guided Tour audio cassette in plastic case with insert
  • Original set of Apple rainbow logo decals in opened plastic
Original Macintosh Retail Box- Original Serial # label still on side of box, and matches the serial # on the Mac! This is the original retail box that this Mac set shipped in. Matching # set is of course more collectible and valuable than a Mac paired with a non-mathing box, or one that comes in a box with the serial # label missing. Date code stamped inside the bottom box flap is \"3-84\" indicating this box was made by the box manufacturer in March 1984prior to this Mac being produced and shipped from Apple in late April/early May. Box includes the original top and bottom internal white Styrofoam that hold the Mac, top tray has embossed Apple logo. Styrofoam is nice white and clean, not cracked or broken. Also includes the original clear plastic cover that came over the Mac when originally shipped, rarely seen as most were not kept.Box is very nice compared to many seen now that are heavily yellowed and browned, crushed, have torn side handles, or are water damaged from poor storage, this one is very nice considering the age. Some spotting and marks on the box, and at one point the top flaps were taped over with a dark tape that was removed at some point. Original clear tape on bottom flaps. All top and bottom box flaps securely attached. NO water damage like many that have water stains on the bottom edges and sides of the box which ruin the value, this was stored in a dry location. Both side carry handles are still solid, NOT torn through to the top which is a very common issue on these original Mac boxes after years of handling. Small little green sticker on one face of box, and small pen written Macintosh on the other side and pen line.Picasso graphics on both faces and Macintosh lettering on each side of the box are very nice and fully legible. Most of these 33+ year old boxes are long gone by now, or are in much worse condition than this one. Ready for prominent display in your Apple collection!
