January 2018 marked the 34th Anniversary of the launch of this original Macintosh M0001 128K model. The original Mac was introduced with the famous Orwellian \"1984\" commercial during Super Bowl XVIII on January 22, 1984, and was the very first reasonably affordable personal computer to use a mouse and a Graphical User Interface (GUI) with desktop icons.

Macintosh system unit- (Model M0001)- Week 47 of 1984 production as decoded from the serial # starting with F447 which decodes as: F= Fremont, CA plant, 4= 1984, 47= 47th week of year, which was the second to last week of November. Original \"Macintosh\" emblem on rear case. It was sometime during this week of the year that Apple switched over to the revised \"Macintosh 128K\" rear emblem, Macs made after week 47 had the later emblem, while Macs made before then had the original \"Macintosh\" emblem. Some week 47 Macs have the original \'Macintosh\' emblem like this one, while others have the revised \'Macintosh 128K\' emblem. Steve Jobs and the original Macintosh team signatures are molded inside the rear case housing of the Mac.

Mac is exceptionally clean cosmetic condition, not all darkly yellowed or discolored like many are! Original beige color with some minor discoloring of the rear mainly noticeable near the ports. No marker writing, no engravings, no cracks or scratches, no stickers or old sticker outlines on the casing like many have. This Mac is in exceptional cosmetic condition! All four original rubber feet on bottom and clean. NO corrosion to the rear clock battery compartment unlike many of these Macs that had an old battery left in for years that leaked out inside causing damage. NO ugly pry marks to any of the Mac case seams as this one was never opened improperly with the wrong tools like many were, which greatly detracts from appearance and value and is often not shown in item photos. Screen is bright, crisp, and stable with no burn-in or scratches on the glass. Ignore any horizontal lines on the screen in the photos, that is just from taking pics of the screen with digital camera. Inside of the Mac is clean from always being stored in the box.

Original Sony 400K Single-Sided Internal Disk Drive- Disk insert and eject mechanism fully cleaned and re-lubed so disks go in and out smoothly. Drive head cleaned so disks read properly. Original Macs are totally dependent on the floppy drive as there was no hard drive for them, so a properly serviced and tested disk drive is essential for use especially given the age.

Original 1984 Apple Macintosh keyboard- (Model # M0110) w/original coiled keyboard cable. Week 45 of 1984 production as decoded from the serial # starting with G445 (4=1984, 45=week 45). No cardboard sleeve just the white foam holders with embossed Apple logo. Cable is clean and tightly coiled. All keys are clean and functional, no dust or dirt between keys, fully detailed and every key tested working to register with the Mac. Keyboard is exceptionally clean and nice, original beige color.

Original 1984 Apple Macintosh one-button mouse- (Model # M0100) Original square style plug connector. Week 45 of 1984 production as decoded from the serial # starting with G445 (4=1984, 45=week 45). Original Picasso cardboard sleeve and white foam holders with embossed Apple logo. Sleeve edges crisp and nice without the typical wear from where they insert into the large foam holders next to the Mac in the box. Mouse rolls smoothly and works perfectly with the Mac. Mouse is exceptionally clean and nice, original beige color.

Original Mac mice and keyboards were made at a separate production plant from Macs, then were later paired with a Macintosh computer unit for final packaging and shipment, so will always be from right around the same timeframe of production as the Mac if they are the originals that came with the Mac, not from a much earlier and certainly not a much later week of production than the Mac as completed Macs were not left sitting around waiting weeks for a mouse and keyboard, they were shipped right out.

1984 Macintosh Picasso Accessory Kit- Rare original Mac white plastic Picasso Accessory Kit box. Nice clean white color, not all ugly yellowed and heavily discolored like many are now. No cracks or splits with is commonly seen on these. Includes:

  • Original 160+ pg. Macintosh Owner\'s Guide, 1984 Version B. No writing or markings inside, clean and nice. Nice white cover, minor shelf wear as expected from age, all pages securely attached to spiral binding
  • Original genuine 1984 Apple Mac 400K floppy disks- Macintosh System and MacWrite and MacPaint disk, and A Guided Tour of Macintosh disk. Both tested and working on this Mac
  • Original Guided Tour cassette in plastic case
  • Original Apple logo Mac angled-head power cord
  • Original fold-out Macintosh packing list brochure with Picasso graphics

Original Apple Macintosh Retail Box- Original Serial # label still on side of box, and matches the serial # on the Macintosh! This is the original retail box that this Mac set shipped in with the original shipping label from Apple dated 12-3-84 still on the side of the box, shipped to Cornell University Computer Services in Ithaca, NY. A matching # set like this is of course more collectible and valuable than a Mac paired with a non-matching # box, or a Mac that comes in a box with the original serial # label missing. Mac 128K and 512K boxes where the same, so the only way to prove a box is the original is if it still has the serial # label on the side of the box.

Date code stamped inside the bottom box flap is \"11-84\" indicating this box was made by the box manufacturer in November 1984justprior to this Mac being produced and shipped from Apple in late November. Box includes the original top and bottom internal white Styrofoam that hold the Mac, top tray has embossed Apple logo. Styrofoam is nice white and clean, top foam was broken in half at some point yet still complete, and was taped back neatly together with clear shipping tape. Also includes the original clear plastic cover that came over the Macintosh unit in the box when shipped, rarely seen as most were not kept.

Box is very nice considering the age and when compared to others that still exist. Original tape on top and bottom of box with newer clear tape over it. Box is not all re-taped over with ugly brown shipping or duct tape like many seen have. All top and bottom box flaps securely attached. Side handles are NOT torn through which is a common problem on these boxes. NO water damage from poor storage like ones that have ugly water stains on the bottom edges and absorbed up the sides of the box which ruin the appearance and value, this was stored in a dry location. Picasso graphics on both faces and Macintosh lettering on each side of the box are very nice and fully legible. Three numbers are written in marker above the serial # label, and there is a small green sticker on the other side of the box. Most of these 1984 Mac boxes are long gone by now, or are in much worse condition than this one. Ready for prominent display in your Apple collection!
