Mywife and I have been collecting and selling on since 1997. Ihave been repairing Macs since the early part of 1986, which includeddozens of the 128k Macs. I have sold hundreds of older Apple productsto collectors around the world!

Thislisting is for an OUTSTANDING 1984 Macintosh 128k model M0001 in itsoriginal shipping container, it was manufactured (or final assemblyhappened) during the 34th week of 1984.

Pleasenote that when I purchased this Mac, it was only the Macintosh andpower cord inside of the original shipping container with foaminserts. All of the other accessories are from a week 36 128kthat did not have a shipping container and had suffered acatastrophic accident (I knocked it off the table three feet onto aconcrete floor, yes, it was by accident!).

The 1984 mouse and thekeyboard are the correct serial number range that would have shippedwith the Mac, in fact the keyboard is also a week 34. The accessoriescontainer is also correct, they were never serialized and were thesame part number with no revisions, and no date codes, throughoutthroughout their production run.

Allplastics (including the keyboard , mouse, and external housings)received a thorough machine wash, followed by a detailed handcleaning.

TheLogic Board and Analog Board, were cleaned with alcohol andcompressed air. The logic-board had suffered a RAM failure which Irepaired. The early 128k Logic Board, has the 128k 342-0220-A and0221-A ROMs, not the “B” versions which did start to appear onsome 128k logic-boards in September of 1984, although is wasextremely rare to find one.

The internal 400k drive wascompletely disassembled, had the disk chassis cleaned andre-lubricated, had the read and write head cleaned, and had thecircuit board cleaned with alcohol. The RFI shield for the LogicBoard has no de-lamination, which is a very common problem.

Thebattery compartment and contacts are like new!

Cosmeticallythe unit cases are in phenomenal condition, beautiful color! There are areas that have faint surface scratches, and smallnicks. The worst of of any visible damage can be seen in the firstsix photos below. But after viewing the photos below, please look atthe opening profile photos again and you\'ll see they are hardlynoticeable if at all? And yes, the rear case has all the moldedsignatures of the original Macintosh design team, just as all Macsmade in 1984/85 do.

TheFloppy EMU is the bestthing to happen to the 128k and 512k Macs since, well, anything!!!(Google it to find the store: BMOW). This floppy disk Emulator isthe cat\'s meow! Transfer disk images you\'ve downloaded from the webonto the SD card, then Plug the SD card into the emulator, and inless than 30 seconds you are running that file on your 128k!!!! .I\'ve mounted it securely in a 1984 M0130 400k external drive casewith the original cable, it is a very secure installation. Color wiseit is slightly yellowed, but still a good match for the Mac. Here isa list of images on the microSD card-

System1.0 (Version .97 14 January 1984) NOTE:There is somecontroversy in the community as to whether or not this System 1.0 isin fact the original pre-release, with items added from latter Systemreleases? The Sysversion application is from 1986? I installed thisversion on the Floppy Emulator because I thought it looked prettynifty with the scripted font that looks like the pre official Macrelease photos. It does sometimes freeze the Mac when using it andthe Internal 400k drive at the same time.

Iam an avid collector, however Irecognize that the 400k disk based media that came with these 1984machines is a bottleneck, they die quickly! Running old 400k disk inyour internal drive for an extended period, will render it useless,FAST! Let\'s face it, a 34 year old plastic sheet with a film in contact with ahead while spinning over a hundred RPM a minute, not good!

However, it is more likehaving that 1966 Hertz Shelby Mustang GT350. You don\'t want to putmore miles on the 289 or transmission, but you still want themworking! The beauty of the Floppy EMU is …..... what if you coulddrive your 1966 GT350 with a modern engine at the flick of a switchwithout modifying the Shelby and keep the original miles on the drivetrain:)

The upper and lower externaldrive cases are not bolted together. Simply slide the top case off, select your disk, and slide the top case back on to give it theappearance of being a normal M0130 external drive.

I replaced the feet withmodern vinyl stops. Color wise the cases are a pretty good match forthe Mac, although they are a bit off between top and bottom.

Please see the photos below, the cases do have minor areas of damage, one crack near the rear thatwas epoxied, but still look great.

The1984 keyboard (week 34) and mouse(week 36)are in the Styrofoamshipping containers. The keyboard has had the circuit-board and keysindividually cleaned, no grime or dirt residue on the keys, nodander, no hair, no spilled drinks. Both are a great color match forthe Mac itself. Both work great. In the photos below you can see thecondition of the boxes. The sleeves do have the typical slighttearing on the ends. The containers are in outstanding condition ascompared to the majority still being offered. style=\"margin-bottom: 0in; font-weight: normal; line-height: 150%\">

TheAccessories Container ,is in great shape. It does have surfaces scratches that extend into the dyed logo areas, yellowed areas around the edges, and severalcrack internally (very normal), BUT, it has been washed by hand (machine washingwould take the logo off, I learned that the hard way many years ago)and is in excellent condition as compared to the majority still outthere. Please see the photos below.

MacPaint,MacWrite, Macintosh Tour and MacPaint/MacWrite Disks have beentested to work. TheSystem/MacPaint/MacWrite backup disk will not boot the Mac, soit should be considered for display only. These disks are marked1984, but they are actually from June of 1985. I replaced theoriginals with these because the originals work either spasmodically,or not at all, and as far as presentation, they look like theoriginals. With the latter finder on each disk, the Mac will ejectthem on shutdown verses the earlier finder were if you forgot toeject the disk before turning the Mac off, you either had to turn theMac back on OR eject it using a paperclip. Also, judging by thecondition of the labels, the disk saw little use.

TheUser\'s Guide has slightmarks on the front and rear covers and slight handling wear. It isin great condition with no missing pages, and no writing in it.

TheMacPaint and MacWrite Guidesare in excellent condition, with some slight marks and a small amountof brown age spotting. Please see the photos below.

Anunmarked Packing Listin pristine condition is included.

Included is the programersswitch, a testedMacintosh/MacWrite/MacPaint Tour cassette, and thecorrect 90 degree angled Applepower cord with cardboard sleeve .

Theoriginal shipping containerwith foam inserts forthe 128k is overall, in great condition considering it is now over 34years old. One hand hold is torn, and there is a gash on one side, any other areas of damage can be seen in the photos below. Even withthe damage this container is still in display worthy condition, certainly compared with the majority that are still out there! Pleaseview the photos below.

Lastlyfolks, there is no such thing as extended testing with software, orhardware diagnostics, to guarantee you will receive a Mac that willfunction for years, months, or even minutes.

If you run these machines formany hours, especially the Mac 128ks / 512ks / and Mac Plus, sincethey have no fans, they get EXTREMELY HOT, and what you get in returnfor a supposed extended test, are machines that are not guaranteed tolast that much longer, but in fact, guaranteed to fail that muchsooner. They are old all die sooner or latter.

Letme take this opportunity to dispel a myth. TheMicron MT4264 chips on the 128k boards were NOT terrible chips. If you say that, then the Mitsubishi and NEC chips were alsoterrible! Apple used Micron MT4264s in almost ¾ of their 128kboards! So yes, you will see more failures with MT4264s! But theproblem was not with the chips, it was the fact that the little Mac128k, had no COOLING FAN! The chips worked as they are/were supposedto.

Thatbeing said, I believe that this 128k will hold up better than anybeing offered right now. I went through everything on the analog andlogic boards!

Withthe Floppy EMU, this would be a great functioning centerpiece inany“Tech Firm”lobby, I have sold many that already are, and myMacs are in several Museums around the would!

I believe that this little1984 Macintosh would make a great addition to any Apple collection, and is rock solid when compared to anything out there!
