Check for the version of the pam_smb package Detailed Explanation for this Vulnerability Assessment The remote host is missing the patch for the advisory SUSE-SA:2003:036 (pam_smb). The PAM module (and server) pam_smb permits users of Linux systems to be authenticated by querying an NT server. Dave Airlie authentication code of pam_smb that permits a remote attacker to gain access to a system using pam_smb by issuing a too long password string. Please download the update package for your distribution and verify its integrity by the methods listed in section 3) of this announcement. Then, install the package using the command 'rpm -Fhv file.rpm' to apply the update.
