Vulnerability Assessment Details

Fedora Core 5 2006-592: libtiff

Vulnerability Assessment Summary
Check for the version of the libtiff package

Detailed Explanation for this Vulnerability Assessment

The remote host is missing the patch for the advisory FEDORA-2006-592 (libtiff).

The libtiff package contains a library of functions for manipulating
TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) image format files. TIFF is a widely

The libtiff package should be installed if you need to manipulate TIFF

Update Information:

The tiffsplit command contained code that handled fixed-size
b uffers insecurely, possibly leading to stack overflows.

This problem is fixed in the updated package.
