Vulnerability Assessment Details

Fedora Core 3 2005-598: libtiff

Vulnerability Assessment Summary
Check for the version of the libtiff package

Detailed Explanation for this Vulnerability Assessment

The remote host is missing the patch for the advisory FEDORA-2005-598 (libtiff).

The libtiff package contains a library of functions for manipulating
TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) image format files. TIFF is a widely
used file format for bitmapped images. TIFF files usually end in the
.tif extension and they are often quite large.

The libtiff package should be installed if you need to manipulate TIFF
format image files.

Update Information:

The updated libtiff package fixes an integer overflow which could lead
to a buffer overflow in the tiffdump utility.
